Nicaragua's Hidden Beach Resort

At Videre Travel, our clients LOVE Central America. Here you have amazing beaches, warm culture, plentiful wildlife and an opportunity to come away from a trip feeling like you really experienced a culture different to your own.

While we love Costa Rica and Panama, the popularity of both destinations has led to more crowds and higher prices as we look ahead to 2022.

For years, we've had a soft spot for Nicaragua's southern Pacific Coast. Easily accessible via Costa Rica's Liberia airport or Managua, Nicaragua's international flight hub, it's as easy to reach as Costa Rica - minus the crowds.

Today we wanted to introduce you to one of our long time favorites - Rancho Santana. This massive area includes 5 unique beaches and a wide variety of accommodations, there truly is something for everyone. “The Ranch” boasts 2,700 acres of rolling hills, five unique beaches, a variety of dining options, and activities from adventure sports to a menu of wellness offerings.

Here are just a few reasons why you should consider Rancho Santana for your next family beach trip.

The beaches (of course!)

Rancho Santana consists of 5 unique private beaches. Playa Santana is the property's main beach - a favorite for surfing, horseback riding, and sunsets! Here you'll find the Sand main pool as well.

Playa Escondida is Rancho Santana’s “Hidden Beach,” and home to yoga platforms and guided SUP adventures. Escondida’s long stretch of pristine shoreline and crystal clear emerald waters are perfect for spotting hatching sea turtles and swimming in the tidal pools. It’s not uncommon for you to have Playa Escondida all to yourself!

You'll also find Playa Los Perros (the most swimmable and kid-friendly beach), Gigante, and Playa Los Perros, home base for surf lessons, board rentals and La Taqueria, where you’ll find a simple fresh menu featuring tacos, tostadas, and ceviches served with a variety of homemade salsas.

Fresh, Local Dining Options

Rancho Santana offers a wide variety of dining options on property. If you opt for residential-style accommodations, you can stock the kitchen at La Tienda, Rancho Santana’s grocery and dry goods market. Pre-arrival procurement services is also available through La Tienda.

The Ranch is also a working farm, so you can expect fresh local meat and cheese produced on property, as well as plenty of fruits and veggies!

Central America Wildlife and Culture

Approximately 25,000 turtles lay their eggs each year on the beaches of Nicaragua. Four species migrate to The Ranch's own Playa Escondida annually generating nearly 6,000 live hatchings each year. If you’re lucky, you may even see a hatching during your stay!

Don't Miss Getting Out on a Boat

Be sure to explore the Pacific by fishing boat, luxury yacht or sunset cruise. Enjoy the beautiful water and coastline while expert guides assist in setting rods and bait or anchor in nearby Redonda Bay for swimming and snorkeling.

Back at The Ranch, La Finca y el Mar can prepare a lunch or dinner of sushi or tacos with your fresh catch!

And of course ... Surfing!

Nicaragua’s southern Pacific coast offers some of the region’s best surf conditions, and at Rancho Santana you’ll find a variety of waves that are perfect for beginners and seasoned surfers.
